On January 2, Zhu Kexiao, Guo Xianlu and their team paid a visit to China National Academy of Painting (CNAP) accompanied by Yang Xiaoyang, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zeng Laide, Ji Lianbin, Wu Yina, Qiao Yinan, Wang Ping, Cai Min and Wang Yonggang. A symposium was held.


On January 15, “The Inaugural Ceremony for the Creative Research Center of CNAP” was held in New York. “Chinese Style—Exhibition of Works by Famous Artists from CNAP” was launched, and more than 30 works by Yang Xiaoyang, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zhang Lizhu and Xing Shaochen were exhibited. Wang Yansheng, Zhang Jiangzhou, Richard Vine, Thomas Valenti, Hoffen Berg, Zhu Ruikai and Zhang Lizhu jointly unveiled the plate for the center. The ceremony was hosted by Zhai You.


On February 1, “New Art Style—Academic Nomination Exhibition (2015) of Art Research Institute at CNAP” was launched at the Art Museum of CNAP. Zuo Zhongyi, Yang Xiaoyang, Long Rui, Xu Li, Wu Weishan, Ming Wenjun, Liang Hongying, Lu Yushun, Jia Leilei, Ni Yuehong, Gao Pengfei, Zhang Xiaoling, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zeng Laide, Liu Dongyan and Ding Jie attended the opening ceremony. The event was sponsored by CNAP with the support of its Art Museum. The works of Cui Zhenkuan, Zhou Yansheng, Wang Tao, Guo Quanzhong, Long Rui, Wang Xijing, He Shuifa, Zhao Jiancheng, Miao Zaixin, Fan Yang, Zhang Zhimin, Zhao Wei, Yang Xiaoyang, Lin Rongsheng, Li Xiaoxuan, Ji Lianbin, Zhang Jiangzhou, He Jialin, Lu Yushun and Jia Guangjian were displayed.


On February 3, artists from CNAP went to Yan'an for a three-day activity of “Dig Deep in Life, Stay with the People.” At 2 pm, a thematic symposium was held at Yan'an Memorial Hall of Revolution for CNAP, Shaanxi Academy of Chinese Painting and Yan'an Artists Association. Yang Xiaoyang, Zhao Wei, Yu Zhixue, Zhao Huasheng, Xie Zhigao, Fang Jun, Nyima Tsering, Ji Lianbin, Liang Zhanyan, Yu Wenjiang, Wang Ping, Wu Yina, Qiao Yinan, Liu Jian, Wang Mengqi, Zhao Qi, Wu Xun, Li Geng, Shi Guoliang, Wang Yongliang, Li Xiaozhu, Li Xiaojun, Wei Guangjun, Hao Baocang, Hao Biao, Zhang Li, Fan Hua, Wang Zhiping, Zhang Jianru, Li Shiming and other delegates from the literary and art circles attended the forum chaired by Lu Yushun.


On February 4, the team of “Dig Deep in Life, Stay with the People” from CNAP went to Yangjiabian Primary School in Chengguan Town, Ganquan County to participate in the “Hand-in-Hand” donation ceremony aimed at helping one hundred children in Yan'an. Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Zhao Wei, Yu Zhixue, Zhao Huasheng, Xie Zhigao, Fang Jun, Nyima Tsering, Ji Lianbin, He Jialin, Liang Zhanyan, Yu Wenjiang, Wang Ping, Wu Yina, Qiao Yinan, Liu Jian, Wang Mengqi, Zhao Qi, Wu Xun, Li Geng, Shi Guoliang, Wang Yongliang, Li Xiaozhu, Li Xiaojun, Wei Guangjun, representatives from the Standing Committee of Yan'an Municipal People's Congress, the Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, the People’s Government of Ganquan County, the County Committee of the Communist Youth League and villagers of Chengguan Township attended the ceremony. In the afternoon, artists from CNAP sent New Year couplets to local villagers.


On February 5, the practice team of “Dig Deep in Life, Stay with the People” paid a visit to the Revolutionary Memorial Hall of the Northwestern Bureau of the Central Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC) and drew sketches at Yan’an Creative Base. The team members include Yang Xiaoyang, Yu Zhixue, Zhao Huasheng, Xie Zhigao, Fang Jun, Nyima Tsering, Ji Lianbin, He Jialin, Liang Zhanyan, Yu Wenjiang, Wang Ping, Wu Yina, Qiao Yinan, Liu Jianji, Wang Mengqi, Zhao Qi, Wu Xun, Li Geng, Shi Guoliang, Wang Yongliang, Li Xiaozhu, Li Xiaojun and Wei Guangjun.


On March 12, Pei Desheng and Yu Bohou visited CNAP. They were accompanied by Zhang Jiangzhou, Wang Yi and Sun Jie.


On March 17, the kick-off ceremony was held for the art fund of CNAP in Beijing. Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zhu Ruikai, Xu Kangning, Gao Ye, Zhang Xuyang, Liu Gang, Chen Junfeng, Li Ping, Chen Jianghong, Ji Lianbin, Liang Zhanyan, Chen Peng, Zeng Xiang, Yu Wenjiang, Chen Fengxin, Qiao Yinan, Wang Ping, Wei Guangjun, Sun Jie and Zhai You attended the ceremony chaired by Zhang Jiangzhou. Yang Xiaoyang, Zhu Ruikai, Zhang Xuyang, Liu Gang and Chen Junfeng delivered speeches. As honorary chairman of the art fund, Yang Xiaoyang issued certificates of appointment to the relevant experts and the vice presidents of the fund.


On April 1, leaders and staff from the office of CPC Haidian District Committee paid a visit to CNAP for inspection and exchanges. They were accompanied by Wang Ping and Dong Lei.


On April 13, “China in Freehand Paintings—Luoyang Exhibition of Traditional Chinese Paintings from CNAP” was launched at Luoyang Art Museum. The event was jointly sponsored by CNAP, Luoyang Urban and Rural Integration Administrative Committee and the Publicity Department of CPC Luoyang Municipal Committee. Wang Lilin, Yang Bingxu, Liu Dianli, Wu Zhongyang, Xie Liufeng, Yang Xiaoyang, Qiu Jimu, Xing Shaochen, Li Geng, Liang Zhanyan, Chen Peng, Shen Shaojun, Wang Yongliang, Lin Rongsheng, Qiao Yinan, Ma Guoqiang, Wang Xiu, Liu Jie, Li Ming and Wen Liuchuan attended the opening ceremony chaired by Yang Bingxu. Ma Guoqiang, Yang Xiaoyang and Wang Lilin addressed the ceremony in succession.


On April 3, “New China Artists Series—Sichuan Exhibition of Chinese Paintings” was launched at the Art Museum of CNAP. The event was sponsored by CNAP and Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture, and hosted by the Creative Research Department, the Art Museum, the Art Research Institute and the Art Information Center of CNAP and Sichuan Academy of Poetry, Painting and Calligraphy. Cheng Guirong, Zhang Bing, Wang Lanming, Yang Xiaoyang, Li Xiang, Tao Qin, Lu Yushun, Zhang Xiaoling, Zhang Jiangzhou and Zhao Wei attended the opening ceremony chaired by Lu Yushun. A total of 110 works by 11 Chinese painters born after 1949 were displayed, including Li Qingke, Cao Hui, Liang Shimin, Ye Ruikun, Yao Simin, Liu Langtao, Liu Gang, Deng Feng, Qin Tianzhu, Guan Mingang and Tang Yunming. A namesake publication consisting of all the exhibits was published.


On April 15, the opening ceremony for “Auspicious Heaven and Earth—Exhibition of Ji Lianbin’s Chinese Paintings” was held at the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC). The exhibition was jointly sponsored by China Artists Association (CAA) and CNAP and over 90 works were displayed. More than 1,400 delegates attended the opening ceremony chaired by Lu Yushun, including Wang Mingming, Yang Xiaoyang, Wang Lanming, Guan Jinghui, Yan Yixin, Sun Yao, Li Zhaoling, Cheng Guirong, Ding Jie, Sun Xuguang, Kang Hanqing, Tian Liming, Ma Shulin, Lu Yushun, Zhang Xiaoling, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zhao Wei, Zeng Laide, Xie Yongquan and Chen Lüsheng. Wang Mingming, Tian Liming, Sun Yao, Yang Lizhou, Yang Xiaoyang and Ji Lianbin addressed the ceremony successively.


On April 29, “Flowery Visual Art—Exhibition of Jia Guangjian’s Chinese Paintings” was launched at the Art Museum of CCTV Calligraphy and Painting Channel in Beijing. The event was sponsored by CNAP, and hosted by CCTV Calligraphy and Painting Channel and Tianjing Academy of Painting, with the support of Tianjin Artists Association, Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and Jia Guangjian Art Museum. Liu Dawei sent his congratulations to the opening ceremony attended by nearly 500 delegates, including Wang Lanming, Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Zhang Jiangzhou and Zeng Laide.


At 8:15 pm of May 4, Zou Peizhu died of illness in Beijing at the age of 95. CNAP extended condolences on her death.


On May 8, Luo Shugang came to CNAP for research and inspection. His team includes Dong Wei, Chen Fafen, Rao Quan, Wang Zhigang, Zhao Wen and Zhu Di. Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Zhang Xiaoling, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zhao Wei and Zeng Laide participated in the research and forum, together with Zhanjian Jun, Li Baolin, Guang Jun, Li Yansheng, Dai Daquan, Fan Yang, He Jie, Chen Yungang, Zeng Xiang, Chen Peng, Yu Wenjiang, Jia Guangjian, Ji Lianbin, He Jialin, Qiao Yinan, Chen Gang, Yang Yingfa, Fan Xiuyun, Qiu Lei, Liu Defeng, Sun Jie and Wang Yihan.


On May 8, “The Second Jing Hao International Symposium cum ‘Jing Hao Cup’ Invitational Exhibition of Chinese Paintings” was launched in Jiyuan City, Henan Province. The event was sponsored by CNAP, Henan Federation of Literary and Art Circles, CPC Jiyuan Municipal Committee and Jiyuan Municipal People's Government, and hosted by the Publicity Department of CPC Jiyuan Municipal Committee, Jing Hao Art Institute, Henan Artists Association and Jiyuan Federation of Literary and Art Circles. Nearly 70 works by Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yunshun, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zhao Wei, Ji Lianbin, Sun Qifeng, Nyima Tsering, Zhang Daoxing, Jiang Wenzhan and Gu Ping were exhibited.


On May 16, “Calligraphy in Paintings—Graduation Exhibition and Commencement of the Second Advanced Class and Theoretical Class of Shen Peng Studio at CNAP” was held at the Art Museum of CNAP, and over 150 works were exhibited.


On May 20, the “New China Artists Series—Exhibition of Chinese Paintings (from Gansu Province)” was launched at the Art Museum of CNAP. The event was sponsored by CNAP and Gansu Provincial Department of Culture, and hosted by the Creative Research Department, the Art Museum, the Fine Arts Institute, the Art Information Center of CNAP, together with Gansu Academy of Painting. Liu Dawei, Wang Lanming, Yang Xiaoyang, Sun Wei, Nyima Tsering, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zhang Baicheng, Yang Jianren and Su Xinlin attended the opening ceremony chaired by Lu Yushun. Liu Dawei, Yang Xiaoyang, Sun Wei and Li Wei delivered speeches. Nearly 90 works by 10 Chinese painters were displayed, including Li Baotang, Wang Hong, Duan Xinming, Li Wei, Zhang Xingguo, Ma Gang, Wang Wancheng, Wang Xiaoyong, Wu Weidong and Wang Mengtong.


On May 27, the “Walking for Health—2015 Jogging Contest of CNAP” drew to an end at Zizhuyuan Park. The event was jointly organized by the trade union and the Communist Youth League of CNAP. Nearly 80 contestants participated, including Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Zhao Wei, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zeng Laide, Ji Lianbin, He Jialin, Liang Zhanyan, Fan Xiuyun, Wu Yina, Qiao Yinan, Kong Zi, Wang Fumin and Chen Ming, as well as workers from many departments of the academy.


On May 29, the signing ceremony for cooperation between Tongxi Group and CNAP was held in Beijing, and the Tongxi Art Creation and Exchange Center of CNAP was formally established. Yang Xiaoyang, Zhang Xiaoling, Zhang Jiangzhou, Qiao Yinan, Liang Zhanyan, Chen Guangchuan, Fan Yizhong, Ji Changning, Hu Yinghui, Shan Feng, Xu Wenting, Gao Yi and Li Guiling attended the signing ceremony chaired by Zhang Xiaoling.


On June 16, Liao Jingwen passed away in Beijing at the age of 92. CNAP extended condolences on her death.


On June 18, “Beautiful World—Exhibition of Sino-French Artists Dialog” was launched at the Chinese Cultural Center of Paris. The event was sponsored by Chinese Cultural Center of Paris, CNAP, CPC Qingyang Municipal Committee and Qingyang Municipal People's Government, and hosted by the Art Museum (Qingyang Branch) of CNAP. Yang Xiaoyang, Long Rui, Wang Fumin, Jacques Gies, Martine Delaleuf, Guan Jian and other delegates and guests from the Chinese and French art circles attended the opening ceremony. A total of 40 works by five famous Chinese and French artists were displayed.


On June 19, the ceremony for presenting the bronze sculpture “Laozi” created by Chen Yungang to Düsseldorf, Germany was held in the Art Park of German Artists Association at 8 pm. The event was the culmination of preparation and planning by CNAP, German Malkasten Artists Association, German DCKD German-China Art Design Exchange Association, and the Municipal Government of Düsseldorf over nearly one year. About 1,000 delegates attended the ceremony, including Yang Xiaoyang, Chen Yungang, Yang Yue, Thomas Geisel, Kang Chen, Feng Haiyang, Robert Hartmann and Guo Jian attended the ceremony. Yang Xiaoyang started a training course themed “Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Art,” drawing 27 German trainees from the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts, the Dortmund Academy of Fine Arts, German Cultural publishers and the German Museum of Art.


On June 20, “Best of the Best—Exhibition of Engravings Collected by CNAP cum Sino-German Print Art Exhibition” was launched at DCKD Art Museum in in Dusseldorf, Germany at 6 pm. The event was co-sponsored by CNAP, DCKD Sino-German Art Exchange Association and the German Malkasten Artists Association. A total of 300 delegates attended the opening ceremony, including Yang Xiaoyang, Robert Hartmann, Feng Haiyang and representatives from the government of Düsseldorf, German Museum of Art and the art and cultural circles of Germany. A total of 42 engravings by 14 lithographers from CNAP and 43 lithographs from 11 print artists from the German Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts, the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts and the Dortmund Institute of Arts were displayed.


On June 24, the “Exhibition of Research in Contemporary Freehand Chinese Carving” was launched at Lanzhou Art Museum. This was the fourth leg of the event following Beijing, Zhengzhou and Xi’an. The event was sponsored by the Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Institute of CNAP, and hosted by its Research Division and the Lanzhou Academy of Painting. Zhang Gaiqin, Zeng Laide, Li Baotang, Li Wei, Zeng Xiang, Wei Guangjun and Chen Fengxin attended the opening ceremony, together with other guests and delegates.


On June 29, the debut of graduation works of 2014 visiting scholars and trainees of the advanced classes of some of the tutors’ studios was launched at the Art Museum of CNAP. The trainees were from the studios of Liu Dawei, Long Rui, Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Cheng Dali and Zhang Zhimin. Nearly 500 delegates attended the opening ceremony, including Yang Xiaoyang, Long Rui, Lu Yushun, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zeng Laide, Cheng Dali, Qiu Lei, Chen Rong, Zhang Tongyu and Wang Yuekui.


On June 30, some painters and theorists were organized at CNAP to review some of the drafts of the “Silk Road Art Project.” Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Zhang Xiaoling, Zhang Jiangzhou, Ji Lianbin, He Jialin, Xing Shaochen, Liang Zhanyan, Chen Peng, Yu Wenjiang, Jia Guangjian, Qiao Yinan, Chen Yungang, Wang Ping, Wang Yi, Zhang Daoxing, Miao Chong’an, Zhao Huasheng, Jiang Baolin, Li Yansheng, Fang Jun, Wang Tao, Wang Mengqi, Deng Jiade, Kong Zi, Zhao Qi, Wu Xun, Li Geng, Shi Guoliang, Wang Yongliang, Lin Rongsheng, Liu Jian, Wang Fumin, Li Xiaozhu, Zhang Huiming, Gu Ping, Zhu Qi, Chen Ping, Wang Xishan and Zhao Peizhi attended the event.


On July 3, “China in Freehand—Exhibition of Chinese Paintings from CNAP cum the Inaugural Ceremony for the Tongxi Art Creation and Exchange Center” was launched at Tongxi Art Museum in Nanjing. The event was sponsored by CNAP, Zhejiang Federation of Literary and Art Circle and the People's Government of Jiangning District. Over 800 delegates attended the opening ceremony, including Yang Xiaoyang, Zhang Jianhua and Feng Jianqin. More than 200 works by 80-odd artists were displayed.


On July 10, some of the retired leaders of Haidian District paid a visit to CNAP, including Jia Chunwang, Zhang Fusen, Hu Zhaoguang, Shen Rendao, Zhang Zhitian, Hu Guizhi, Li Jinchu and Tan Jing. They were accompanied by Zeng Laide, Qiao Yinan and Wang Ping during their visit.


On July 12, “Seminar on Yang Xiaoyang’s Macroscopic Freehand Theory” organized by the Chinese Calligraphy and Painting magazine was held in Beijing. Xue Yongnian, Wang Yong, Zhang Xiaoling, Chen Chiyu, Zheng Gong, Wang Ning, Wang Luxiang, Shang Hui, Gao Tianmin, Zhang Huiming and Zhang Yidan attended the seminar.


On July 18, the “2015 Sino-Korean Calligraphy Exhibition” witnessed a grand opening at the Art Museum of CNAP, and 120 works from as many artists were displayed, including 60 from each side. The event was sponsored by CNAP, and hosted by its Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Institute, together with the Korean Calligraphers Association. Yang Chengzhi, Zhang Hai, Yang Xiaoyang, Shen Wansheng, Lin Xiu, Hu Kangmei, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zeng Laide, Xie Yongquan, Wang Ping, Kim Jin Gon, Park Yang Jai, Gang Dae Hi and delegates from all walks of life attended the opening ceremony.


On August 1, “Exhibition of Contemporary Freehand Seal Cutting” was launched at Hongru Art Museum. The event was sponsored by CNAP and its Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Institute, and jointly hosted by the Seal Cutting Center of Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Institute, together with Shandong Calligraphers Association, Linyi Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Television, Press and Publication, Linyi Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Hongru Art Museum and Dongshan Academy. Zeng Laide, Wang Xiaoman, Cao Shoujuan, Long Yan, Zhang Jianhua, Zeng Xiang, Yan Shougu, Yu Mingquan, Wei Guangjun, Hong Houtian, Yang Deping and Dai Jingming attended the opening ceremony.


On August 8, “Opening Ceremony for the Field-trip along the Maritime Silk Road cum the Inaugural Ceremony of the Art Museum (Fujian Branch) of CNAP was launched at THC-Taihuachen Art Museum in Quanzhou, Fujian Province. Yang Xiaoyang, Zhang Jiangzhou, Weng Zhenxin, Wang Laiwen, Guo Dongjian, Wang Heping, Yang Ting, Xu Xuming, Zhuang Canxia, Shi Siquan and other delegates from the culture community attended the ceremony.


“Opening Ceremony for the Field-trip along the Maritime Silk Road” of CNAP was held in Quanzhou, Fujian. The delegation members were Zhang Jiangzhou, Ji Lianbin, Wang Fumin, Liang Zhanyan, Yu Wenjiang, Chen Peng, Wang Ping, Zhang Daoxing, Xie Zhigao, Shen Shaojun, Zhang Lizhu, Yang Ting, Guo Dongjian and Zhang Baodong.


On September 7, “Exhibition of Chinese Paintings from CNAP” as a leg of the art exhibition of the secnd Silk Road International Art Festival Series was launched at Shaanxi Art Museum. The event was sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, and hosted by Shaanxi Provincial Department of Culture and CNAP. Yang Xiaoyang, Zeng Laide, Liu Kuanren, Gu Jinsong, Wang Yanqi, E Jun, Wang Xinrong, Guo Xianlu, Liu Wenxi, Wang Fumin, Qiao Yinan, Liang Zhanyan, Chen Peng, Cui Zhenkuan, Wang Youzheng, Guo Quanzhong, Zhang Lizhu, Shen Shaojun, Lin Rongsheng, Wang Yongliang, Seta Yasuji and Zhang Kun attended the opening ceremony. More than 140 works were exhibited.


On September 11, Du Dakai and Yang Yue went to Eastern Europe (including Poland, Austria, the Czech Republic and Hungary) for inspection, sketch creation and exchanges according to arrangements for the “Silk Road Art Creation Project.” The trip took 20 days and covered nearly 3,000 kilometers.


On September 13, according to the planning of “Silk Road Art Creation Project,” Wang Xishan went to Yinchuan, Ningxia for inspection. He made stops in Xingjing Town in Xixia District, Fengdeng Town and Liangtian Town in Jinfeng District, Wuzhong City and Lingwu City.


On September 15, Yang Xiaoyang led a delegation to Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to launch the thematic activity of “Sketch Field-trip of the Silk Road Art Creation Project and the Practice of the ‘Dig Deep’ Project.” Members include Shen Shaojun, Chen Fengxin, Qiao Yinan, Zhou Yixin, Wu Weidong, Zhou Shigang and Guo Ziliang. From September 15 to 20, the delegation stayed in Tongchang Village in Helan County for sketch creation. On September 21, the team paid a visit to Rock Art of Helan Mountain for inspection. On September 22, artists stopped at Wudaoling Primary School in Tongxin County for art creation and communication with local people.


On September 22, “Boundless Universe—Exhibition of Chinese Paintings by Lu Yushun” sponsored by CNAP and the CPC Central Party School was launched at Archives of the CPC Central Party School. More than 50 trainees from Class 58 for officials of provincial and ministerial levels attended the opening ceremony, together with He Yiting, Xu Weixin, Zhao Changmao, Wang Dongjing, Dong Wei, Qin Zhigang, Guo Yunde, Luo Zongyi, Huang Xianqi, Liang Yanshun, Wang Huaichao, Wang Mingming, Xu Li, Long Rui, Ding Jie, Ma Shulin, Zhao Wei and Wang Ping.


“Qingzhou Captured on Canvas—China in Freehand Paintings: the 2015 Annual Meeting of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy and Exhibition of Works by Academic Members and Researchers at CNAP” was launched at the Exhibition Center of Zhongchen (Qingzhou) International Cultural and Art Town. The event was sponsored by CNAP, Rongbaozhai, Chinese Painting Institute, Central Digital TV Calligraphy and Painting Channel and Shandong Federation of Literary and Art Circles, with academic support from CAA and China Calligraphers Association. Its theme was “Painting the Trends of the Times and Carrying Forward the National Culture of China.”


From September 23 to October 5, Chen Peng, He Jialin, Wu Xun, Liu Jian and Hu Yongkai took a field trip to Iran.


From September 28 to October 10, the 2015 Silk Road Field-trip Delegation of the Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Institute at CNAP completed its 13-day field-trip to the Silk Road in northern Xinjiang. It consisted of 16 members: Zeng Laide, Xie Yongquan, Zeng Xiang, Li Xiaojun, Cai Dali, Hu Qiuping, Shao Yan, Wen Yongsheng, Wei Jie, Zhang Gongzhe, Xiao Li, Li Qiang, Wei Guangjun, Tang Chaoyi, Luo Hong and Zhang Ping. The key topics of the trip were: First, trail-blazing efforts of Zhang Qian to Western China and the development of the Silk Road; Second, the historical and cultural relics along the Silk Road, especially those on calligraphy and seal cutting, as well as the ancient classics, instruments (bamboo slips), painting and music; Third, history and geography, economic and cultural exchanges, national integration and protection and construction of border areas since the modern times.


On September 30, “Sincerity—Approaching Academies: the 2015 Exhibition of Chinese Paintings by Young Teachers from Chinese Institutes of Higher Learning” was launched at the Art Museum of CNAP. The biennial event was sponsored by CNAP and hosted by its Youth Painters Institute and Art Museum, and the School of Art and Design at Hebei Normal University, with the support of CECEP Health City. Works of 211 artists from 80 institutes of higher learning (including the eight major academies of fine arts), 20 painting academies and art museums were exhibited. Yang Xiaoyang, Chen Fengxin, Jiang Shiguo, Chen Zui and Chen Hui addressed the opening ceremony chaired by Lu Yushun.


On October 7, CNAP offered to appoint Zurab Tsereteli as its honorary consultant, academic committee member and researcher. Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Ji Lianbin, Qiao Yinan, He Jialin, Zhang Nan and Dong Lei received Tsereteli and his team.


On October 15, a symposium was held in the meeting room of CNAP at 9:30 to commemorate the first anniversary of the speech made by President Xi Jinping on the forum of literary and art. Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Zhang Xiaoling, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zhao Wei and Ji Lianbin attended the meeting, together with other representatives and staff of the Art Creation Institute.


On October 27, Yang Xiaoyang led a delegation to Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and discussed with his counterpart on measures for the fine arts communities of China and Uzbekistan to enhance cooperation and to respond to the international cooperation strategy of the Belt and Road Initiative jointly advocated by the leaders of the two countries. Ji Lianbin, Qiao Yinan and Zhang Nan were on the delegation.


On November 1, CNAP began to recruit postdoctoral researchers for the year of 2015. The postdoctoral tutors included Yang Xiaoyang who specialized in development strategy of contemporary Chinese art, Long Rui who specialized in the relation of social functions of traditional Chinese painting to its aesthetic tastes and expressiveness, Lu Yushun who specialized in new silk road: overseas communications and trade of Chinese art, Zhang Xiaoling who specialized in history of modern Chinese art history, He Jialin who specialized in brushwork language in landscapes and Fan Yang, who specialized in art planning research.


On November 2, CNAP signed a cooperation agreement with the Uzbekistan Foreign Friendship Association and the Uzbekistani Academy of Arts and Sciences in Tashkent. Yang Xiaoyang, Zakir Abidov and Akmal Nuriddinov signed the agreement under respectively the joint testimony of Sun Lijie, Liu Jian, Ji Lianbin, Qiao Yinan, and media representatives from China and Uzbekistan.


On November 3, “Exhibition of Yuan Yunfu’s Paintings was launched at NAMOC. At the event co-sponsored by NAMOC, CAA and Tsinghua University, Yuan Yunfu donated some of his works to the museum.


On November 12, “Sketch Exhibition of 2015 Field-trip along the Silk Road by CNAP” was launched at the Art Museum of CNAP. The event was sponsored by CNAP and jointly hosted by its Creative Research Institute, Traditional Chinese Painting Institute, Oil Painting Institute, Engraving Institute, Sculpture Institute, and Public Art Institute. Zhao Shaohua, Wang Lanming, Li Mu, Liu Dawei, Yang Xiaoyang, Du Jun, Lu Yushun, Zhang Xiaoling, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zhao Wei, Yu Zhixue, Zhao Huasheng, Miao Chongan, Nyima Tsering, Li Yansheng, Zhang Zuying, Zhang Baicheng, Liu Jian, Li Yang, Ji Lianbin, He Jialin, Fan Yang, Liang Zhanyan, Chen Peng, Dai Daquan, Chen Yungang, Gao Tianmin, Jia Guangjian, Yu Wenjiang, Kong Zi, Chen Fengxin, Wang Ping, Qiao Yinan, Qiu Lei and Qiu Jimu attended the opening ceremony. More than 500 works by over 70 artists were on display.


On November 17, a signing ceremony was held between CNAP and Bridge Trust Co., Ltd. Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Zhang Xiaoling, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zeng Laide, Ma Baojun and Shi Xiaodong attended the signing ceremony. Zhang Jiangzhou and Shi Xiaodong signed the “Framework Agreement on Strategic Cooperation between CNAP and Bridge Trust Co., Ltd.” and Agreement on Postdoctoral Training between CNAP and Bridge Trust Co., Ltd. on behalf of their respective parties.


On November 20, the “Launching Ceremony for the International Calligraphy and Cultural Activities Series for Celebrating the UNs 70th Anniversary” was held at the UN headquarters. Ban Ki Moon, Yoo Soon Taek, Kim Won Soo, Liu Jieyi, Zhang Qiyue and Zeng Laide attended the ceremony. Zeng Laide delivered a speech entitled “How Chinese Calligraphy Goes Global and How to Help the World Understand China.”


On November 30, “Ceremony on the Founding of the Archeology Institute of CNAP cum the Donation of Relics by Mr. Lin Xiao” was held in CNAP. Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Zhao Wei, Zeng Laide, Ji Lianbin, Wu Yina, Qiao Yinann, Wang Fumin, Wang Ping and Lin Xiao witnessed this occasion together. Lu Yushun presided over the ceremony and read out the decision of CNAP on establishing the Institute of Archeology and appointing Lin Xiao as its executive director with a letter of appointment.


On December 2, the press conference for The 60-Episode A Life in Painting: Part I, a major Art Documentary Series via Video Recording by CNAP, was held at Jinlongtan Hotel at 10 am. Chen Fafen, Zhang Baicheng, Liu Boshu, Yang Xiaoyang, Gao Feng, Lu Yushun, Zhang Jiangzhou, Hu Yongfang, Wang Ping, Li Jing, Shang Hui, Li Baolin, Yu Zhixue, Jia Haoyi, Jin Zhulin, the video-shooting crew and the media attended the event.


On December 3, “The 2nd Chinese Dream: Artistic PursuitExhibition of Works from CNAP, Tianjing Painting Academy, Jiangsu Academy of Chinese Painting, Shandong Painting Academy and Gansu Painting Academy was launched at Shandong Art Museum. The event was sponsored by CNAP and Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, and hosted by Shandong Painting Academy and Shandong Art Museum. More than 300 works by painters of the five academies were displayed.


On December 10, “New China Artists Series—Shanxi Exhibition of Chinese Paintings” was launched at the Art Museum of CNAP. The event was sponsored by CNAP and Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture, and hosted by the Creative Research Institute, Art Museum, Art Research Institute and Art Information Center of CNAP. The event was sponsored by CNAP and Jiangxi Provincial Department of Culture, and hosted by the Creative Research Institute, Art Museum, Art Research Institute and Art Information Center of CNAP. Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Wang Lanming, Chen Guangwen, Xu Li, Ji Lianbin, Sun Jiahua, Yang Ding, Cai Chao, Yang Jinxing, He Jialin, Liang Zhanyan, Chen Peng, Chen Fengxin, Qiao Yinan, Xing Shaochen, Wang Yongliang, Sun Jiahua, Lu Chuan, Shuai An and Liu Yang attended the ceremony. Exhibited artists include Yang Jinxing, Shuai An, Fang Xuexiao, Fang Xueliang, Fang Li, Chen Gang and Cai Qun.


On December 26, the inaugural conference for Fine Arts in China was held in the Great Hall of the People. Over 200 delegates from all walks of life attended the meeting, including Cai Wu, Dong Wei, Liu Dawei, Yang Xiaoyang, Liu Boshu, Zhu Di, Wu Weishan, Xu Li, Rémy Aron, Wang Lanming, Zhuang Hansheng, Zhang Weiguo, Han Ziyong, Chen Fafen, Wang Feng, Liu Chengxuan, You Qingqiao, Song Guanlin, Sun Xuguang, Luo Bin, Lu Yushun, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zeng Laide, Chen Guangchuan and Gan Xuejun. Zhang Xiaoling and Wang Ping briefed the guests on the bid invitation and preparations. Yang Xiaoyang issued certificates to the Academic Steering Committee, as well as Wang Yong and Ding Ning, representatives of the editorial board. Cai Wu, Liu Dawei and Yang Xiaoyang jointly unveiled the Fine Arts in China. Cai Wu announced that the newspaper was officially launched. “Truth as the Greatest BeautyAcademic Invitational Exhibition and Forum on Inauguration of Fine Arts in China was launched at the Art Museum of CNAP at 2 pm. The Exhibition was sponsored by CNAP and Fine Arts in China Press, and hosted by the Art Museum at CNAP. More than 120 works by various artists were displayed, including Wang Meng, Wang Qi, Jin Shangyi, Xiao Feng, Shao Dazhen, Feng Yuan, Zhou Shaohua, Liu Wenxi, Cui Zhenkuan, Jiang Baolin, Liu Dawei, Zhao Jiancheng, Tian Liming, Yang Xiaoyang and Lu Yushun. The symposium titled “Art in the Media Age” was held in the conference room of Fine Arts in China.


On December 27, the Opening Ceremony of “China in Freehand Paintings—the 2015 Annual Exhibition of CNAP” was held at NAMOC. More than 700 works by nearly 300 artists were on display. The event was sponsored by CNAP, and hosted by its Creative Research Institute, Traditional Chinese Painting Institute, Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Institute, Oil Painting Institute, Engraving Institute, Sculpture Institute, Art Research Institute, Public Art Institute, Youth Institute and Art Information Center. Dong Wei, Liu Dawei, Xie Zhigao, Du Dakai and Yang Xiaoyang addressed the opening ceremony. Zhou Tienong, Chen Zongxing, Cai Wu, Chen Cungen, Zhao Shaohua, Qin Zhigang, Ding Wei, Lü Zhangshen, Liu Boshu, Yuan Yunfu and Zhan Jianjun cut the ribbons for the opening ceremony chaired by Lu Yushun. Zhao Wei introduced the leaders and guests present at the opening ceremony from the NPC, CPPCC National Committee, Ministry of Culture, CFLAC, CAA and other relevant departments.
