On January 3, the “Second Exhibition of Works by the Trainees from Hu Kangmei and Zeng Xiang Studio” was launched at the exhibition hall of China Academy of Calligraphy.


On January 4, the press conference on “The Restoration Project of the Lives of 60 Artists of PRC and the 60-Episode Documentary A Life in Painting” was held at China National Academy of Painting (CNAP).


On January 11, Yang Xiaoyang, Zhao Wei, Qiao Yinan and Dong Lei attended the “The Way of Instruction—Exhibition of Works by Teachers and Students of the Sculpture Institute at China National Academy of Painting,” an event jointly organized by the CNAP Sculpture Institute and Datong Bureau of Cultural Heritage.


On January 25, the commencement of the advanced seminar for professionals (in landscape and figure painting) of painting academies from across China was held at the CNAP Art Museum together with a trainee exhibition.


On February 6, Zeng Laide was appointed vice president of CNAP by the Ministry of Culture after due deliberation. The appointment was in accordance with relevant provisions in Regulations on the Selection and Appointment of Leading Officials of the Party and the Government and Measures of Ministry of Culture for Implementing Prior Publicity for Leading Officials of the Party and Government.


On February 22, the Fine Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture came to CNAP to study its annual work arrangement for 2013.

On March 27, “Differing Tastes—the Annual Academic Invitational Exhibition of China National Art Gallery and the Inaugural Ceremony of Its Council” was launched at the CNAP Art Museum. The event was sponsored by China National Art Gallery and CNAP.


On April 2, “Beautiful Taiwan—Exhibition of Classic Works by Modern and Contemporary Masters from Taiwan (1911-2011)” was launched at National Art Museum of China (NAMOC). Yang Xiaoyang and Lu Yushun participated in the event, which was co-sponsored by All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, Foundation of Taiwan Culture, China Friendship Association of Cultural Circles, NAMOC and CNAP.


On April 3, a forum entitled “Taiwan Art in the Era of Diversity” opened at Prime Hotel in Beijing. Zhang Xiaoling introduced the theme of the forum.


On April 8, “Enthralling Qinghai—Exhibition of Works by Master CNAP Artists on Their Trip to Qinghai” was launched at the Art Museum of the academy. The event was hosted by Qinghai Provincial Department of Culture, Press and Publication.


On April 9, the first national tour of “Life and Ink Language—Exhibition of Zhang Jiangzhou’s Ink and Wash Art” made its debut at the National Art Museum of China. The event was sponsored by CNAP, China Artists Association (CAA), NAMOC, Henan Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Shaanxi Federation of Literary and Art Circles.


From April 10 to 12, “China in May—Tour of Famous Artists in China and the United States” made its debut at the CNAP exhibition base at Manet Grassland. From May 3 to 7, the same exhibition would be available for visitors at the exhibition hall at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and New Jersey State Museum.


On April 24, “Contemporary Masters—Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Figure Paintings” was launched at the Longmen Museum. The event was hosted by CNAP, the People’s Government of Luoyang, Shaanxi Provincial Artists Association and the Art Center of China International Exhibition Center. CNAP representatives attended the opening ceremony with artists and leaders of Luoyang Municipal Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC) and the People’s Government of Luoyang. CNAP also unveiled the name plate for its Longmen Art Center.


On May 21, the unveiling ceremony was held for Panlonggu Creative Base of CNAP, marking the formal operation of the base. Located in Panlonggu Cultural City in Jixian County, the base was the result of joint efforts by CNAP, the People's Government of Jixian County and Shanghai Greenland Group.


On May 22, “Time, People—Exhibition of Works by Famous Figure Painters in China,” which was also the inaugural ceremony for Shaanxi Creative Base of CNAP, was launched at Shaanxi Province Art Museum. The event was sponsored by CNAP and hosted by Shaanxi Artists Association.


On May 25, the opening ceremony of “Exhibition of Wang Hanshan’s Flower and Bird Paintings” was held at the CNAP Art Museum. The event was jointly sponsored by the academy and Hunan Federation of Literary and Art Circles.


On May 25, “Commissioning of the CNAP Art Center at CIEC and Beautiful China—Opening Ceremony for Art Exhibition of CNAP” was at the CNAP Art Center at China International Exhibition Center (CIEC). The event was sponsored by CNAP, and hosted by the Art Research Center, the Art Exchange Center of the Academy, CNAP Art Center at CIEC, and CIEC.


On June 8, “Achievement Exhibition of the 2012 Seminar of Professionals from Painting Academy across China” opened at the CNAP Art Museum. A total of 103 works by 58 artists were displayed.


On June 14, “Oriental Ink and Brush—International Exhibition of Chinese Calligraphy Art,” an event for the fourth International Festival of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Chengdu, was launched at Chengdu International Intangible Cultural Heritage Park. The event was hosted by the Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Institute of CNAP, Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture and Chengdu Federation of Literary and Art Circles.


On June 25, “Beautiful China—Invitational Exhibition of Fan Paintings from China National Academy of Painting” opened in Washington.


On July 1, “Exhibition of Liu Zhibai’s Traditional Chinese Paintings” was held at NAMOC.


On July 16, the mobilization meeting for the practical activities in mass education of CPC guidelines was held at CNAP.


On July 25, the first lecture of “Special Lecture Series on Contemporary Art” organized by the Fine Arts Institute of CNAP was unveiled. Shen Kuiyi and An Yalan delivered academic speeches at the academy.


On August 10, the Russian delegation of engraving artists paid a visit to CNAP.


On August 14, the ceremony for appointing Fang Lijun as the director of the Center for Contemporary Art Research was held at the reception hall of the CNAP Art Museum.


On September 6, “Exhibition of Li Xiaojun's Traditional Chinese Paintings” was launched at Anqing Hall in Prince Gong's Palace in Beijing, where 40 flower-and-bird paintings by Li Xiaojun were displayed.


On September 13, “The Opening Ceremony for the Art Education and Training Center (2013) of Chinese Academy of Painting” was held at Shangri-La Hotel in Beijing.


On September 16, “Devoted Artist—Exhibition of Qin Zhigang’s Paintings and Calligraphy Works” was held at the CNAP Art Museum. The event was sponsored by CAA, Chinese National Academy of Arts (CNAA) and CNAP.


On September 23, Yang Xiaoyang and his team held a cooperation and exchange dialogue at the US Meridian International Center, an institute of culture and arts directly under the US Department of State.


On September 25, “Beautiful China—Invitational Exhibition of Fan Paintings by Masters of China National Academy of Painting” was launched at the Consulate General of China in New York. The event was sponsored by CNAP, and hosted by Chinese Culture and Art Fund, and Jinhong Culture Development Co., Ltd. in the US.


On September 25, “Collected Ink and Wash Art of Minsheng Bank: Prajna—Invitational Exhibition of Buddhist Paintings by Masters across China” was launched at Art Minsheng Club. At the event jointly sponsored by China National Art Gallery and Art Minsheng Club, nearly 70 artworks by nearly 30 artists were displayed.


On September 26, Yang Xiaoyang and his team went to the US for “Beautiful China—Invitational Exhibition of Fan Paintings by Masters of China National Academy of Painting” and art exchange activities.


On September 27, Yang Xiaoyang and his team arrived in Boston for artistic exchange. Accompanied by Liu Yuanli, he visited and inspected Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At Harvard, Liu briefed the representatives on the development of CNAP.


On September 28, Yang Xiaoyang, Zhang Lizhu, Xu Peichen, Wang Fumin and Qiao Yinan inspected the preparations for the American Institute of Creative Studies of CNAP in New York. They were accompanied by Zhu Ruikai and Zhai You.

On September 28, “Exhibition of Chen Peng's Freehand Bird and Flower Paintings” was launched at the Madrid Cultural and Art Center.


On October 5, Yang Xiaoyang, Zhang Jiangzhou and Zeng Laide participated in “Changing World—Contemporary Chinese Trends,” an exhibition sponsored by Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture and Institute of Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting of Sichuan, and hosted by Chengdu Museum Association and Chengdu Wuhou Shrine. Its opening ceremony was held at the Art Museum of Wuhou Shrine.


On October 5, “Ceremony for Donation of Cultural Relics and Art Works by Yang Xiaoyang” was held in the Mingyuan Garden in Chengdu Wuhou Shrine. Yang donated 20 pieces of stone carving piles, 40 pieces of painted pottery and 60 other collectibles.


From October 6 to 20, the researchers of “Silk Road Delegation of China National Academy of Painting” set out from Beijing on an inspectional tour of Hexi Corridor and Southern Xinjiang via Lanzhou, a trip that covered over 10,000 kilometers.


On October 12, the “10th China Art Festival: National Exhibition of Excellent Artworks” was launched at the new hall of Shandong Art Museum. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the People's Government of Shandong Province and hosted by the Fine Arts Department of the Ministry of Culture, CNAP and Shandong Provincial Department of Culture.


On October 15, “Chinese Style: Exhibition of Chinese Paintings from China National Academy of Painting” was launched at China Cultural Center in Bangkok. The event was hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and hosted by CNAP and Bangkok China Cultural Center.


From October 17 to 21, at the invitation of the China Cultural Center of Mauritius, a delegation of four CNAP calligraphers visited Mauritius and held a calligraphy exhibition titled in the “Chinese style.”


On October 19, the Inaugural Meeting and the First Plenary Meeting for Xi'an Young Artists Association was held at Qujiang International Conference Center. Qiao Yinan was elected chairman of the association.


On October 24, the press conference for “The First Group of Artists Admitted to CIEC Art Center of China National Academy of Painting” ended at CIEC in Beijing.


On October 31, the opening ceremony of “The 15th China Shanghai International Arts Festival—China in Freehand Painting: 2013 Invitational Exhibition of Chinese Painting, Calligraphy and Printmaking for China National Academy of Painting” was launched at China Art Museum in Shanghai. The event was sponsored by CNAP and jointly hosted by the Center for China Shanghai International Arts Festival Center and China Art Museum in Shanghai.


On November 6, “The Rugged Path of Life—Academic Exhibition of Flower and Bird Paintings by Xing Shaochen” was launched in the teaching hall of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA). The exhibition was hosted by CAFA, the CAA Chinese Painting Institute, and CNAP.


On November 15, a three-month calligraphy training course for young workers was launched at CNAP. Zeng Laide made a mobilization speech at the opening ceremony.


On November 28, an “Inaugural Ceremony for the Postdoctoral Research Station” was held at the CNAP Art Museum, marking a new stage in the development of the academy.


On December 3, “China in Freehand Paintings—Art Exhibition of China National Academy of Painting,” which was also “Supreme Good like Water—the 3rd ‘Artistic Water Cube Cup’ International Art Exhibition,” was launched at the “Water Cube” (China National Aquatics Center).


On December 8, the opening ceremony for Jing Hao International Academic Forum was held at   Jaster Hotel in Jiyuan, Henan Province. The forum was sponsored by CNAP, the Publicity Department of CPC Henan Provincial Committee, Henan Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the CPC Jiyuan Municipal Committee and the People's Government of Jiyuan City, and hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiyuan Municipal Committee, Henan Artists Association, Jing Hao Art Institute, and Jiyuan Federation of Literary and Art Circles.


On December 11, the opening ceremony for “Beautiful China—Exhibition of Fan Paintings by Masters of China National Academy of Painting” was held at the China Cultural Center in Paris. It was witnessed by about 200 delegates, including art celebrities from Paris, representatives of local Chinese art community and artists from CNAP.


On December 17, the sixth leg of the national tour “Life and Language of Ink—Exhibition of Ink-Wash Art by Zhang Jiangzhou” opened at Shandong Museum.


On December 28, “Series of New China Artists—Exhibition of Chinese Paintings from Jiangsu Province” opened at the CNAP Art Museum.


On December 29, “Inaugural Ceremony for Liuzhou Creative Base of Chinese National Academy of Painting cum China in Freehand Paintings—Art Exhibition of China National Academy of Painting” was launched at Liuzhou Museum. The exhibition was sponsored by CNAP and Liuzhou Museum.


On December 30, “Wisdom of Sightseeing in Travels—The Thematic Exhibition of and Symposium on the Spatial Theory and Its Practice in Classical Chinese Painting” was held in Hefei, Anhui. The event was jointly sponsored by CNAP, the Publicity Department of CPC Hefei Municipal Committee, Anhui Artists Association and Hefei Federation of Literary and Art Circles.


On December 31, “Excursions in the Dabieshan Mountain—Exhibition of Wang Yongliang's Chinese Paintings was launched at Anhui Museum. The event was sponsored by CNAP, Anhui Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the People's Government of Liu'an, Anhui Feiteng Group, Anhui Dele Auction Co., Ltd. and Dabieshan Academy of Painting.
