On January 1, the first Hangzhou Chinese Painting Biennale was held at Zhejiang Art Museum. More than 330 paintings by 29 painters were exhibited, including works by Wang Yingchun, Lu Yushun, Chen Peiqiu, Zhu Yingren, Zeng Mi, Kong Zhongqi, Zhuo Hejun, Liu Zhenxia, Han Shuo, Pan Gongkai, Gu Wenda, Guo Quanzhong, Wu Xiansheng, Zhang Zhimin, Tian Liming and Yuan Wu.


On January 4, the inaugural ceremony of International Art Exchange Center of China National Academy of Painting in Wuqing was held in Wuqing District, Tianjin. The center was the first of its kind to be established in China.


On January 7, a team led by Wang Wenzhang went to Henan for enriching cultural activities in the rural areas. Members include Zhang Jiangzhou, Xing Shaochen, Chen Peng, Jia Guangjian and Deng Jiade.


On January 11, “Westward Spread of Ink—Invitational Exhibition of Field Sketches on Lanzhou by Painters of China National Academy of Painting” was held at Lanzhou Art Museum. The event was jointly organized by China National Academy of Painting (CNAP) and the Publicity Department of CPC Lanzhou Municipal Committee, and hosted by the Creative Research Department of CNAP, Lanzhou Painting Academy and Lanzhou Rong Bao Xuan Art Museum.


On January 15, CNAP and CCTV Digital Painting and Calligraphy Channel held a New Year celebration party at New Century Hotel.

On January 19-21, “Inheriting Ethnic Culture and Building a Harmonious Society—the CNAP ‘Culture, Science and Hygiene for Rural Areas’ Campaign” was held in Zhoucun District of Zibo City in Shandong Province.


On January 20, CNAP held the 2010 Annual Conference in the studio on the second floor of its main building. All staff, permanent and supernumerary, attended the meeting.


On January 21, Yang Zhijin and his team came to CNAP for security studies and inspection.


On January 25, “True Love and Peace: Sino-Japanese Friendly Exchange Exhibition of Calligraphy and Painting” was launched at the CNAP Art Museum. The event was co-sponsored by CNAP and NPO, a Japanese organization for cultural and economic exchange between China and Japan.


On January 27, Zhang Jiangzhou received delegates from Harvard University accompanied by Bai Xueming and Zhang Ming.


 

On January 29-31, Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Xie Yongquan, Zhang Xiaoling and Zhang Jiangzhou visited Huang Miaozi, Wang Qi, Xu Linlu, Huang Yongyu, Ouyang Zhongshi, Shen Peng, Jin Shangyi and other senior artists.


On January 31, Zeng Laide and others accompanied Wang Wenzhang to Daxing District in suburban Beijing to send New Year greetings to local people with New-Year couplets and pictures.


On February 2, Xie Yongquan made a guest appearance on the CCTV1 live show “Year in and Year out.”


On February 15, the working conference of China Artists Association (CAA) was held in Fuzhou. Yang Xiaoyang, Zhang Jiangzhou, Zhao Wei and Xie Zhigao attended the meeting.


On February 17, the CPC Central Committee held an evening gala at the Great Hall of the People to celebrate the Lantern Festival. Yang Xiaoyang and Lu Yushun were invited to the event.


On February 26, “Originality, Art, Poetry, Humanism—the Symposium on Shen Peng’s Calligraphy Art” hosted by China Calligraphers Association was held at the Academic Auditorium of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC). Over 200 delegates from CNAP led by Yang Xiaoyang and Zeng Laide attended the forum, including the Premium Class and Topic Class of Shen Peng Studio.


On February 28, the 2010 commendation meeting for petition-handling, information and supervision work of the Ministry of Culture was held in Beijing. Xie Yongquan was awarded outstanding individual in handling petitions.


On February 28, at the president’s office meeting, Wang Ping was appointed president of the CNAP Art Information Research Center, Chen Qi the secretary general of the CNAP Engraving Institute, and Yang Yue the dean assistant of the Engraving Institute.


On March 1, Zhang Yuping presided over the “Coordination Meeting on Issues Related to the Planned Site for the Office Buildings of the Water Supply Repair Team to the East of China National Academy of Painting” held in Room 103, Building 5 in the compound of Beijing Municipal Government. Principals from Beijing Municipal Planning Commission, Beijing Municipal Water Affairs Bureau, the People’s Government of Haidian District, Beijing Water Supply Group, CNAP and other relevant agencies attended the meeting.


On March 5, the 2011 Working Conference of China National Academy of Painting was held in the multi-purpose hall of the Academy.


On March 9, the 2011 Meeting on Trade Unions Work & Commendation was held for trade unions of agencies directly under the Ministry of Culture. CNAP was awarded the 2005-2009 Advanced Unit in Trade Union, Xie Yongquan recognized as the Outstanding Friend of Trade Unions, Qiu Yiqin as the Outstanding Trade Union Chair, Li Huiping as the Outstanding Trade Union Official and Piao Wenguang as the Outstanding Trade Union Activist.


On March 10, the coordination meeting for site selection for the water supply repair team was held in Meeting Room 206 at the Haidian Branch of Beijing Municipal Planning Commission. Xie Yongquan, Liu Defeng, Xia Xiaolin, and other related persons from the Specific Planning Division of Beijing Municipal Planning Commission, the Municipal Water Supply Group, the District Construction Commission and Sijiqing Town attended the meeting.


On March 11, the first meeting of the Creative Research Department in 2011 was held in the studio on the second floor of the main building.


On March 16, the 2011 CNAP New Year Work Conference was held. Chaired by Lu Yushun, the meeting was attended by Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun, Xie Yongquan, Zhang Xiaoling, Zhang Jiangzhou and all in-service staff.


On March 16, “Echo in the Valleys—Exhibition of Works by Zhang Ding and Fellow Painters” opened at the National Center for the Performing Arts. Yang Xiaoyang attended the opening ceremony.


On March 30, at the president’s office meeting, the Regulations on the Appointment of Professionals of China National Academy of Painting was discussed and approved, and the agreements for cooperation with Jiangsu Provincial Culture and Arts Foundation, China Food Safety Newspaper and Manet Grassland International Club, were approved.


On April 9, “Flute in the Sea of Ink: Exhibition of Works by Instructors and Trainees of the CNAP Zhang Jiangzhou Studio” opened for public at Yunnan Art Museum.


On April 12, Xie Yongquan cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony for the “Immortal Art—Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of Chen Dayu” organized by Guangzhou Art Museum.


On April 13, the “2010 Eco-China” awards ceremony jointly hosted by National Forestation Commission, the State Forestry Administration and China Green Foundation was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. CNAP was awarded the “2010 Eco-China Cooperation Award.”


On April 15, Shen Peng Art Museum was completed and opened for public in Nanjing Middle School in Jiangyin. Shen Peng, Liu Jimin, Yan Gongda, Lu Yushun, Hu Kangmei, Zeng Laide and government officials of Wuxi City attended the ceremony.


On April 18, “Exhibition of Couplets by Master Artists” was held at CNAP, with academic support from the Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Institute and The Art Research Institute of China National Academy of Painting, and sponsored by Center of International Cultural Exchange under the Ministry of Culture.


On May 10, the preparatory meeting was held for the 30th anniversary of CNAP. Jointly chaired by Yang Xiaoyang, Zhang Xiaoling and Zhang Jiangzhou, the meeting was attended by Yuan Yunfu, Du Dakai, Zhang Zuying, Zhao Wei, Zeng Laide and Yu Shihong.


On May 13, Yang Xiaoyang attended the opening ceremony for the International Cultural Industry Fair (ICIF) Art Museum in Hall 8 of Shenzhen ICIF and “Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Oil Paintings in the Eyes of Artists.”


On May 13, “South China in Spring Drizzles—Nomination Exhibition of Painters from the Yangtze River Delta” was held at the CNAP Art Museum. The event was sponsored by China National Academy of Painting and hosted by the journal Fine Arts and Hangzhou Jiangnan Painting and Calligraphy Co., Ltd.


From May 23 to June 15, “Life Inspires Creation—The Second Exhibition of Paintings by Huang Zhou and Students” was held at Yan Huang Art Museum. The event was sponsored by CAA, CNAP, China Minsheng Bank and Huang Zhou Art Foundation, and hosted by the CAA Chinese Painting Art Committee and Yan Huang Art Museum.


On May 24, CNAP held a press conference on the celebration for its 30th anniversary for major media in Beijing.


On May 25, CNAP held “Eastern Twilight—Press Conference of China National Academy of Painting” and introduced the preparatory work for the 30th anniversary celebration of its founding to the media.


On May 26, “Landscape of Homeland—Exhibition of Works by Long Rui” was launched at the National Museum Art of China. The event was jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, CNAP, CAA and National Museum Art of China, and hosted by Dalian Wanda Group. Zheng Wantong offered his congratulations in person.


On May 26-29, the delegation for “Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese Communist Party—Tributes to Servicemen under the Fluttering Red Flag by Chinese Artists” organized by the CNAP Art Exchange Center went to Yunnan for a field trip and pay respects to the PLA soldiers stationed at the frontiers in Yunnan.


On May 29, “Being Extraordinary—Exhibition of Chinese Painting by Fan Yang and Fan Zhibin” opened at the National Art Museum of China, displaying over 100 works.


From May 31 to June 9, “Wonderful Spring Scenes—Exhibition of Paintings by Guo Yicong” was held at the National Art Museum of China. At the event organized by the Ministry of Culture, CNAP and CFLAC, more than 130 works were displayed.


On June 2, per the president’s office meeting, Mei Mosheng was no longer the director of the Institute of Theoretical Studies. Mei assumed his new position as the deputy secretary-general of the Art Research Institute (with the original administrative benefits sustained).


On June 3, “Mountainous Reverberations—Exhibition of Landscape by Li Baolin” was launched at the Art Museum of Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy, co-hosted by CNAP and Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy.


On June 6, “The Opening Ceremony for 2011 National Exhibition of Chinese Paintings/ Celebration of the Fifth Anniversary for Yu Shun Art Museum” was held in Harbin Yu Shun Art Museum/Hulan Art Museum.


On June 11, Chinese Art Appreciation—a delegation of over 20 members led by Mr. Irie Kan—paid a visit to China National Academy of Painting and discussed the current art development in China and art exchange between China and Japan.


On June 13, Chen Tong accompanied Zhang Jianmin and his team of four on their visit to CNAP.


On June 13, a delegation of five from Sichuan Provincial Academy of Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting led by Dai Wei and Hu Jixian visited CNAP.

  

On June 14, the president’s office meeting passed the list of leaders and guests to be invited to the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the CNAP.


On June 22, the first plenary session of CNAP was held. It was the largest meeting since the founding of the academy.


On June 26, “Reflections at 90—Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition in Celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese Communist Party” was held at Manet Grassland Art Center, jointly organized by CNAP, CPC Committee of Haidian, Beijing Municipality and the People’s Government of Haidian District.


On July 1-5, “Exhibition of Masterpieces by Qiu Jimu the Famous Flower and Bird Painter” was held at Shenzhen Peng Bao Xuan Art Museum, under the sponsorship of CNAP and Shenzhen News Group.


On July 6, “The Vicissitudes of the Old Summer Palace and Rebirth of Zhengjue Temple—Exhibition Dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese Communist Party” was held at Zhengjue Temple, the Old Summer Palace.


On July 6, “New Rhymes of Ink and Wash—National Invitation of Works by Famous Chinese Painters” was launched at Shandong Longkou Art Museum in celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese Communist Party. The event was jointly hosted by the CNAP Art Exchange Center, Yantai Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcasting, Press and Publications, and Shandong Longkou Art Museum.


On July 9, the graduation exhibition for the 2010 high-level symposium was held at the CNAP Art Museum.


On July 25, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) held a commendation meeting for proposals and suggestions to the “12th Five-Year Plan,” comprehensively summarized the achievements and commended outstanding agencies and individuals. Ruan Zonghua won the third prize in “Drawing a Blueprint Altogether—My Suggestions for the 12th Five-Year Plan.”


On July 28, “Sun Rise in the East—Invitational Exhibition of Famous Artists” was held at Shaanxi Province Art Museum. The event was sponsored by CNAP and EXPO Xi’an, hosted by Shaanxi Guojiu Painting and Calligraphy Institute and the editorial department of Guojiu Calligraphy and Paintings under Kweichow Moutai Co., Ltd.


From August 3 to August 8, some of our senior staff went to Heilongjiang for a trade union-organized visit.


On August 16, Dedication to the Mountains and Rivers, a large-scale tone-painting symphony created on the basis of Li Yansheng’s namesake work, premiered at the Opera House of the National Center for the Performing Arts. The event was jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, CPPCC National Committee of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports, CFLAC and CPC Beijing Municipal Committee Publicity Department, and hosted by CNAP.


On August 23, the president’s office meeting decided to transfer Wang Yongliang to the post of secretary of the faculty of CNAP.


From August 25 to August 28, the Red Delegation for “Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese Communist Party—Tributes to Servicemen under the Fluttering Red Flag by Chinese Artists” organized by the CNAP Art Exchange Center and Hainan Academy of Fine Arts went to Wuzhi Mountain.


On August 27, the opening ceremony for “Clouds Rise in Hunan—Exhibition of Chinese Paintings by Fan Yang” was held at Hunan Museum. The event was sponsored by CNAP and Hunan Museum, and hosted by Morning Herald and Beijing Zi Lang Xuan Culture and Art Co., Ltd.


On September 10, “Ink and Wash China—2011 Invitational Exhibition of Chinese Paintings by Famous Artists” was held at the auditorium of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Beijing. The works of Fan Yang and Yu Wenjiang were displayed.


From September 11 to 15, “Original Simplicity Recovered—Retrospective Exhibition of Deng Lin at 70” was held at Beijing Rong Bao Zai Art Museum.


From September 13 to 16, the “Demonstrative Teaching Exhibition of Feng Yuan Studio” was held at the CNAP Art Museum.


On September 15, the 2011 CNAP symposium was unveiled at the August 1st Theater in Beijing.


On September 17, the “Charming Tibet—Exhibition of Contemporary Master of Oil Painting” was launched at the National Art Museum of China. The event was sponsored by CNAP, the International Culture Association and the Artists Association of Tibet Autonomous Region, and hosted by the CNAP Oil Painting Institute and Beijing Pinzhong Culture Media Co., Ltd.


On September 21, the signing ceremony for the project “Huan Tai Hu Art City” was held at Wujin Administrative Center. The project would be the result of cooperation of CNAP, the People’s Government of Wujin District in Changzhou City and Jiangsu Huan Tai Hu Art City Development Co., Ltd.


On September 23, the “Inception of China National Painting Academy Fund for Poverty Alleviation/First Fund-Raising Painters’ Conference” was held in our hospital.


On September 23, Yang Xiaoyang and the presidents of painting and calligraphy institutes from over 20 provinces and municipalities went to Nanjing for inspection, accompanied by Xu Huiling.


On September 29, the leadership of CNAP invited retired comrades to the academy to celebrate the National Day.


On October 8, the “Work Meeting for the 30th Anniversary of the Founding of China National Academy of Painting” was held on the second floor of the new building of the academy.


On October 9, the press conference for “China in Freehand Painting—2011 Exhibition of Chinese Paintings, Calligraphy and Seal Cutting of China National Academy of Painting” at the 13th China Shanghai International Arts Festival was held at Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel.


On October 10, “Exhibition of Freehand Chinese Paintings by Xing Shaochen” was launched at Lanzhou Rong Bao Xuan Art Museum. The event was sponsored by CNAP, Art Committee of China Artists Association, the CPC Lanzhou Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Lanzhou and jointly hosted by the CNAP Creative Research Department and Rong Bao Xuan Art Museum.


From October 28 to November 3, “Exhibition of Ink-Wash Paintings of Liu Boshu and He Yunlan from Their Trip to Taiwan” cum academic symposium was held at Te-Chun Gallery at Taiwan Normal University.


On October 30, “Twilight in the East—International Forum on the 30th Anniversary of the Founding of CNAP” with the theme of “Chinese Art in the Era of Globalization” was held at the auditorium of the National Museum of China.


On November 2, the opening ceremony of “Ink Charm in Paris” was held at the French National Assembly Palace. The event was jointly sponsored by the International Cultural Exchange Center of the Chinese Ministry of Culture, CNAP and the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris.


On November 2, Zhang Xiaoling and Ji Lianbin convened a meeting for the staff of the Art Information Research Center and some of the researchers from the Fine Arts Institute to deploy the follow-up publicity work following the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the academy.


On November 5, Yang Xiaoyang attended the Inauguration Ceremony of Shandong Academy of Painting and Shandong Art Creation Seminar in Jinan.


On November 9, the inaugural ceremony was held for the Bund Art Center at Bund No. 26, the private banking headquarters of Agricultural Bank of China in Shanghai.


On November 12, Yang Xiaoyang, Fan Yang and Liang Zhanyan attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new site of Guangzhou Art Academy and the Museum of Contemporary Art held in the Baiyun New Town in Guangzhou.


On November 14, “China in Freehand Painting—2011 CNAP Exhibition of Chinese Paintings, Calligraphy and Seal Cutting” was held at Shanghai Exhibition Center. The event was sponsored by the Center for Shanghai International Arts Festival, and hosted by the CNAP Traditional Chinese Painting Institute, Calligraphy and Seal Carving Institute.


On November 15, Chen Fengxin attended the opening ceremony for “Receiving the World with Sincerity—Exhibition of Masters and Doctors of Art Academies and Their Tutors” at the CNAP Art Museum (Pingshan Branch), together with teachers and students from more than a dozen of art schools in China.


From November 16 to 23, “Across the Border—Exhibition of Color Ink Paintings on China and UAE by Hu Yongkai” was held at Dubai Art Center in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A total of 62 works were displayed.


From November 22 to 25, the ninth National Conference of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the eighth National Conference of Chinese Writers Association were held in Beijing. Yang Xiaoyang, Lu Yushun and Kong Zi attended the meetings on behalf of China National Academy of Painting.


On November 24, “Ink Charm in Paris,” a seminar on Zeng Laide, was held in Beijing.


On November 27, “Masterpieces of Famous Painters—Exhibition of Collected Works at Donglian Calligraphy and Painting Museum” was launched at Donglian Calligraphy and Painting Museum under Donglian Group in Erdos. Liu Dawei, Lu Yushun, Liu Boshu, Xie Yongquan and Yang Lizhou delivered speeches.


On December 2, Yang Xiaoyang presided over the president’s office meeting, at which it was decided that Shaanxi Chinese Painting Research Center would be established in Xi’an via the cooperation between CNAP and Shaanxi Artists Association, and that Zhang Jiangzhou would be in charge of its operation.


On December 3, the inaugural ceremony was held for the CNAP Lingnan Creative Base in Dongguan, Guangdong Province. Yang Xiaoyang, Liu Shuji, Wang Daoping and Liang Guoying jointly inaugurated the base.


On December 8, the president’s office meeting decided that Zhang Jiangzhou would replace Xie Yongquan as the legal representatives of the Art Exchange Center.


On December 14, the second Summit for the Chinese Art Market opened at Rosedale Hotel in Beijing. Zhao Yu attended the meeting and delivered a speech.


On December 20, the president’s office meeting appointed He Jialin as the deputy director of the Creative Research Department, Wang Ping as the director of the Information Department, Qiao Yinan as the deputy director of the Academic Office, Liu Defeng as the deputy director of the General Office and Qiu Lei as the deputy director of Teaching and Training Department.


On December 21, a delegation of four, including Wu Yina and Dong Lei, with Pei Lei from Beijing Manet Grassland International Club, paid a visit to Peizhi Central School in Haidian District, Beijing.


On December 26, the “2011 CNAP Annual Conference and New Year Gathering” was held in the studio on the second floor of the academy.


On December 27, the “First CNAP Painters’ Conference of the Old Summer Palace” was held at Zhengjue Temple of the Old Summer Palace, jointly sponsored by CNAP and the administration office of the Old Summer Palace.
